Saint Norbert (1080-1134), the holy archbishop of Magdeburg, was a religious man and founder of the Premonstratensian Order. Born into a noble family in Xanten, in present-day Germany, Norbert initially had a worldly life, holding public offices. However, a profound conversion experience led him to undertake a religious life, becoming a priest and dedicating himself to preaching and reforming the Church.
In 1120 he founded the Premonstratensian Order, a monastic movement that promoted a community life based on prayer, poverty and evangelization. The Order was characterized by its commitment to living according to the rule of Saint Augustine, uniting monastic life with apostolic mission.
Saint Norbert is known for his religious zeal, his commitment to the reform of the Church and his contribution to the spread of the Christian faith. He died in 1134 and was canonized in 1582 by Pope Gregory XIII. His feast day is celebrated on June 6.
