Our hand carved wooden statue in a very popular style, brings with it the charm of Faith and not of the object created for trade.

The artist Jadir João Egidio (as signed on the back) is a Brazilian artist born in 1933 in Divinópolis which is a municipality in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil .

Self-taught artist, he began to sculpt after a serious accident, inspired by Faith, he is also highly appreciated by experts in popular art, which is why he has been presented at important exhibitions. Some of these were curated by Emanoel Araújo, such as “Negras Memórias, Memórias de Negros”, “Brasileiros, Brasileiras” and the rediscovery exhibition “Brazil 500 years”. Many of his works are on sale in many Art Galleries.

The Legend of the Saint

  • Legend has it that two ravens protected the body of St. Vincent from wild animals after his martyrdom in 304.

  • The saint's followers were thus able to recover the body and give it a worthy burial.

  • In 1173, King Afonso Henriques had the body exhumed and shipped to Lisbon.

  • Even during this move the body was accompanied by crows.
