Asmodeus, Ashmedeu in Hebrew, is a biblical demon, among the most important in the hierarchy of infernal spirits: he is one of the eighteen infernal kings who commands 72 legions of devils.
Born from Iranian religious mythology with the name of “Aeshma Daeva”, which means“god of anger”, he is mentioned in Zoroastrianism.
Asmodeus was defeated and subdued by King Solomon, who forced him to build the famous Temple for him.
After that, he was made keeper of King Solomon's treasure.
This is the reason for his position in the presented sculpture, Asmodeus among the most powerful Angel demons, a submissive and fearful figure.
