Original "Two Suns" Box -Wood -Iron - First half of the 19th century -India
Interesting heavy wooden box with hand-forged hinge nail for spices or medicinal herbs.
Entirely hand cut, carved and engraved, it is from the late Mughul period, early British period. (circa 1840/1860)
Purchased from the "Arkana Gall ery" Gallery, from a trusted Indian importer "Mudit International" in the 1980s, it is declared to come from the Red Fort area of New Delhi.
Full of history, visually used but intact and of great aesthetic impact.
A light waxing is recommendedat least once a year.
