Interesting and unique piece, shaped and painted canvas cardboard panel on a gold and blue base.

The image is taken from the famous work by Nicolas de Verdun, the Klosterneuburg Altarpiece (1181; gilded bronze and enamel; Klosterneuburg, abbey church) from the panel “ Detail with explorers and grapes ” (see altar images).

Our artwork has a different inscription than the original, it says: “NEC DECLINABIS AD DEXTERAM NEXQUE AD SINISTRAM” Translated: “ you shall not deviate to the right or to the left”.

Quote from Joshua 1:7 Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may succeed in everything you do.

Work from a clerical collector, received in the late 1950s from an Austrian prelate.

In good condition (small damage along the edges) measures 48 x 59 cm. And weighs approximately 2.00 Kg.
