The phenomenon of hexadactyly (the presence of six fingers per limb), which in the Middle Ages was seen as a symbol of the devil , but which in modern times has been reevaluated and sometimes associated with extraordinary gifts or a fortunate destiny.

Different scholars and authors have interpreted hexadactyly in different ways:

  • Heindel connects it to the symbol of initiation .

  • Elio Corti in the world of darkness .

  • Massimo Centini reports a popular belief according to which those born with six fingers will be particularly lucky and capable .

  • Franco Manfredi highlighted the presence of hexadactyly in religious works of art in Trentino, especially in the churches of Pinzolo and Carisolo , frescoed by the Baschenis , itinerant Lombard painters.

More extensive references are also cited:

  • The Bible mentions a warrior with six fingers.

  • Santilli's 1995 footage links polydactyly to alleged Roswell aliens .

  • Some legendary historical animals , such as the horses of Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar, were said to have had extra toes and were exceptional.

Finally, the text lists numerous works of art (Renaissance and modern) where hexadactyly appears:

  • In sacred figures painted by Raphael , Perugino , Timoteo Vitti , and others.

  • In statues, frescoes, and sacred art objects in Italy and even in a Tibetan monastery , where a mummified six-fingered hand is said to have belonged to a Yeti .

In short: hexadactyly, from a diabolical mark, has become a symbol of mystery, power or exceptionality, with traces in art, folklore, religion and ufology.
