Antique Tuareg teapot/kettle in thick patinated copper and forged iron for the hinges.
Dome-shaped, entirely embossed and engraved over the entire surface with upper handle and bottom with three support balls.
Purchased in the 1980s in Algeria from an antique dealer in the centre of the city of Algiers, declared to be from the late 19th/early 20th century.
Certainly a fine piece of folk craftsmanship, very refined and with attention to detail, great care in the hinges, all hand-forged and joined to the body with hand-crafted rivets or hidden welds.
The handle is also beautiful, hand-shaped and decorated with a six-petal flower that has been a symbol of life since ancient times.
The teapot measures 24cm x 22cm high with the handle at the top, the teapot has a diameter of 18cm. at the base and the teapot is 16cm high.
